Hello and Welcome

I’m Michelle - an expressive abstract artist living and painting on the coast of Wales. I’m so glad you’re here.
I believe that art has the power to ground us, soften us, and bring us home to ourselves. Whether you’ve come to explore my paintings, learn how to paint more intuitively, or simply to find a little creative inspiration, I hope you find something here to enjoy.

My Story
I create emotionally resonant, layered abstract landscapes and dreamlike portraits that evoke memory, mood and atmosphere. My process is instinctive and mostly brushless - using tools like a palette knife and catalyst wedge to build, scrape and reveal stories hidden in the paint. For me, each layer is like a chapter - sometimes concealed, sometimes exposed - reflecting both the beauty of the Welsh coastline and the inner terrain of grief, resilience and hope.

Art became a lifeline after a series of personal upheavals. In 2017, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then in 2021, my daughter nearly died from a sudden brain haemorrhage. These experiences cracked something open in me - a deeper need to feel, to process, to express. Painting became both my way of healing and a shared creative sanctuary for me and my daughter, helping us reconnect with joy and meaning.

Living with OCD, I’ve often found it difficult to quiet my mind. But the act of creating - losing myself in layers of paint, texture and movement - brings a stillness and presence I rarely find elsewhere. That’s why I now share this process with others: to help fellow artists let go of perfection, trust their instincts and create from a place of feeling rather than fear.

Through my courses, guides and membership, I guide others on their own expressive journey, one where art isn’t about getting it “right,” but about creating something real.

Why I Paint
I’m drawn to the space between what we see and what we feel - the flicker of a memory, the hush of a quiet moment, the glimpse of something just beyond the veil. I often depict sleeping figures, ethereal forms, and softened landscapes that blur the lines between waking life and dream. These pieces are an invitation: to slow down, to feel deeply, to wonder.
Whether it’s through a muted palette or the scraping-back of paint to reveal hidden textures, I aim to capture that feeling of something just remembered or almost forgotten, a visual echo of the inner world.
